| Edison style: The earliest massed produced sockets where the cap and shell are affixed by two small screws in the side. These sockets commonly have a mica center. Narrow style: Early "snap together" sockets much more narrow than the modern "Electrolier" style made today. Fat Boy or Standard style: The most common style used on turn of the century lighting, these are fatter than the modern "Electrolier" sockets used today. Electrolier: The industry standard size socket used today. This is the size found in hardware stores, electrical supplies, and in most lighting fixtures manufactured today. As is: socket is being offered as found. It will be in working order, but the finish has not been changed in any way. Traditional repairs: We repair vintage sockets with traditional methods to maintain the integrity of the piece. No repair will be visible from the exterior. Repairs are usually done to cracks in the internal socket threads of Edison style sockets. |
